Bataan-Cavite bridge project now worth P219.3B

President Bongbong Marcos last Friday approved the cost changes to the cost and implementation of timeline of the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge project. The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) said there was an “updated detailed engineering design” that increased the project’s cost as adjusted to inflation, to P219.3 billion from P175.6 billion.

In a published report on Saturday (PDI Oct. 14, 2023), Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan said that the project’s implementation has been extended to December 2029. The Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge project is among the six projects nationwide cleared by President Marcos with a total funding of P269.7 billion that are meant to boost tourism and address gaps in the country’s health care system.

The interlink bridge starts in Barangay Alasasin in Mariveles, Bataan and in Naic town on the Cavite side. Earlier, Bataan Gov. Abet Garcia, now congressman of the province’s Second District, said the country’s longest bridge will spur economic progress between the Calabarzon and Central Luzon as well as Metro Manila area.
